Why Kids on Mission?

Kids on Mission (KOM) provides Christ-centered, interactive online Spanish & Mandarin classes. Your child will increase in fluency by singing songs, playing virtual games, and having real life conversations. Our heart at KOM is to equip children with language skills to love and serve others.

KOM School Year 2021 – 2022: The KOM Time Machine

Kids on Mission will offer 15 weeks of classes this Fall (August 30  – December 17) and 15 weeks this Spring (January 17 – May 7). We have times available during the morning that are perfect for home school or preschool schedules, and in the early evening for kids looking to add an authentic Spanish immersion experience after school. Our theme for this school year is “The KOM Time Machine,” where we will go back in time to explore Bible stories and how life used to look in the past (a few examples: how people used to cook, how they had to travel, historic machinery on farms and musical instruments through the ages).

It’s going to be a fascinating year that will expose your child to a variety of vocabulary and above all, the beautiful story of God’s love for us, as seen through every story in the Bible. Click on the “Register to Attend” menu option to get started!

Coming Spring 2022: One-on-one beginner Mandarin classes!!

The Details

What age is this program for?

KOM lessons are best suited for ages 3.5 years old through elementary school. Teachers adjust the lesson based on the age and language skill level of the class.

How long is each class?

Classes are 25 minutes long via Zoom.

Does my child need any prior language experience?

No, all experience levels are welcome! Students with similar language levels will be put in the same group class.

What days and times are classes held?

During registration you are able to specify the days and times that work best for your family. We offer classes in the morning (9am – noon EST), afternoon (3pm – 5pm EST), and early evening (5pm – 7pm EST) each weekday.

Note that if you are enrolling in a group class, there must be at least one other student (of a similar age and language level) available at that time in order to form a class.

How should I choose between group classes or one-on-one?

It really depends on your child’s personality and your goals for their learning! Group classes are great for regularly seeing cousins or friends who don’t live nearby (during registration you can request that your child be in the same class as another child), and also great for motivating social children who enjoy seeing their friends. One-on-one classes offer a more focused learning environment, and could be good for kids who would be distracted by (or be distracting to!) other kids and for those who are wanting to maximize their child’s speaking during every class.

How much does it cost?

See our Credits Packages page for full pricing details.

What if my child has never done virtual learning before?

When you register, you have the opportunity to “try out” the first week of classes risk-free. If for any reason you feel that the virtual learning platform is not a good fit for your child, you can simply email support@komlearning.com to discuss other options or to request a full refund.
